The Benefits Of Sedation Dentistry

At #thesmiledoc, your comfort is our priority. With nitrous oxide sedation dentistry, you can sit back and relax while we restore your smile.

Relax & Stay Calm

With laughing gas, you will feel calm and euphoric, and a little bit disconnected from what’s happening around you. While you may feel a bit “fuzzy” or confused, you will remain completely aware and conscious throughout your treatment.

Eliminate Pain & Discomfort

Laughing gas functions as an analgesic (pain reliever). When it’s used alongside topical numbing products, laughing gas ensures that you won’t feel a thing during your dental procedure.

Enhance Your Comfort

Laughing gas makes it easier to sit through long dental procedures. It can also help with complications like a fear of needles and dental anxiety in general.

FAQs About Laughing Gas Sedation

At #thesmiledoc, it is our mission to keep all of our patients informed and educated about all of their dental options. If you don’t see an answer to your laughing gas sedation dentistry question, give us a call at (512) 240-7200 and one of our knowledgeable team members will help you decide if sedation is right for you.

Are There Side Effects To Laughing Gas?

Laughing gas sedation doesn’t have any serious side effects. Once your treatment has concluded, Dr. Reid will pump oxygen through your nose mask for a few minutes, which will help purge the laughing gas from your lungs and your bloodstream.

However, it’s common to feel some minor side effects for a few minutes after your treatment. You may feel a bit confused and nauseated. Shivering, headache, and fatigue are less common, but may occur. If present, these effects will subside quickly.

Am I A Good Candidate For laughing gas Sedation?

As long as you’re healthy, don’t have any past health conditions that may interfere with laughing gas sedation, or have a history of drug abuse, you’re likely a good candidate for laughing gas at our office. To ensure you can be sedated safely, Dr. Reid will discuss your past and present health with you before beginning treatment.
